History

1876

Founding of the company

In May 1876, Adam Georg Thorwart established the “1. Deutsche Zwingenfabrik” (1st German Ferrule Factory) in Schmalkalden at Neumarkt 14. With the introduction of the deep-drawing process, he was able to produce these ferrules (caps on the wooden handles of hand tools) much more economically than before.

1901

New premises at Blechhammer

Constant company growth necessitated the construction of a new building on the Blechhammer site in 1901. This was taken over on 31.01.1903 and is still owned by the family today. Always mindful of rational production, ferrules, sleeves, caps and other deep-drawn parts have been manufactured at this site ever since.

1990

Difficult times after the fall of the Berlin Wall

After 1990, the family tradition was continued by the great-grandson of the company founder, Jürgen Thorwarth (Dipl. Ing. (FH)). He guided the company back to meeting the needs of the market economy under the most difficult of conditions.

2008

Into the modern age

As successors, the two grandsons Michael Thorwarth and Andreas Tanz today continue to uphold more than 140 years of tradition. With 25 employees, the company can now produce well over 120 million deep-drawn parts per year using modern deep-drawing and finishing technology and has thus firmly established its market position in a growth-oriented manner.

2018

New construction of a production hall

Expansion of the production area at the Blechhammer 1 site with the addition of another hall.

2021

Acquisition of two warehouses

Expansion of the production and warehouse area by a further 2500m2 in the Wernshausen district.
